Deep Tissue Massage
Technique that utilizes deep tissue/deep muscle massage therapy are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. These techniques require more advanced training and a more thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology. All of our therapists are trained in all of the advanced techniques. Deep tissue massage is used on tight muscles where they have a harder time relaxing. Tight muscles may cause pains because there is a lack of blood flowing to that area. That lack of blood prevents oxygen and nutrients from being absorbed and causing a buildup of waste products (metabolites and lactic acid), which can make the area hurt. This condition can cause the muscle to tighten further or spasm. Deep Tissue massage can help relax the muscles and remove toxins allowing it to function properly.
Deep tissue massage is generally integrated with other massage techniques. Deep tissue massage help restructure the body and improve posture. Deep tissue massage can help break up and eliminate scar tissue. The purpose of deep tissue massage is to “release” the fibers of the muscle while letting go any deeply-held patterns of tension. It is both corrective and therapeutic. It is important to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage to help eliminate toxins released from the body after the massage.
